Tonight's beer: Angry Cedar Hoptimism
Fruity up-front—tons of bittersweet mostly-orangey citrus—with piney-grassy-floral bitterness making rich and complex chords. There's some toasty-caramel sweetness lurking in the background, adequate to provide counterpoint, maybe even something approaching balance.
Medium-bodied, or just a little lighter, with good carbonation. A trace of pulpy-resinous stickiness, but mostly clean, cleansing, drying, refreshing.
Very nice. This is not an IPA that'll strip the enamel off your teeth; it's an IPA you can sit and have a few of, share with friends. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with any of that. Plenty intense and complex; nicely integrated and clearly poised (if not balanced). Drinkable as hell, and delicious.
