Tonight's beer: Black Diamond Rampage
Citrus up-front, backed by pine and flowers and grass. Come juicy sweetness evolves into something more like caramel, bread and crackers through the middle. The finish is bitter and dry, with dim flickers of bright spice in the distance.
Surprisingly light-bodied for the style, with decent carbonation. Drying and scrubbing to the point of scouring. A little stickiness through and after the finish. Roughly zero alcohol heat.
Yet another extremely drinkable Double IPA, laden with bright hoppy flavors. Crazily intense and complex for days (especially given that practically all that complexity comes from hops); very well-balanced for the style, and superbly integrated. Approximately no warning of the 9% ABV. Delicious from start to finish. And, there's an elephant on the label, which makes it even better.
