Tonight's beer: Boulevard Bully! Porter
Big and roasty—dark chocolate and coffee—threaded liberally with caramel and toast and dark bread. Earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness appears through the middle, lingers beyond the finish. A brief splash of what I think of as "typically porterish tang," then the beer dries out pretty much completely.
A bit heavier than medium-bodied, decently-carbonated. Drying and almost refreshing, but simultaneously filling and refreshing. A little chewy and sticky.
A big and bold American Robust Porter, delicious from start to finish. Surprisingly complex, and nicely balanced and integrated. Not an overwhelmingly strong beer, ABV-wise, but lots of stuff going on. I'm a Boulevard fanboy, and beers like this are a big part of the reason why.
