Tonight's beer: Brooklyn Silver Anniversary Lager
Grassy-floral bitterness front and center, parts through the middle to allow some bready-toasty caramel sweetness to take a bow, then closes ranks again for a dry and bitter finish. Hints of citrussy fruitiness cavort around the periphery.
Pretty light-bodied, for a 9% ABV lager; decently carbonated and very smooth. A bit of bready chewiness, but the finish is mostly clean and cleansing, drying and refreshing. Distressingly little alcohol presence.
Yum! A delicious beer with which to kick off a weeklong anniversary extravaganza. Intense, and complex enough—the style does tend toward the straightforward; nicely balanced and beautifully integrated. Massively drinkable. Happy Anniversary, Brooklyn Brewery! Huzzah!
