This evening's beer: Firestone Walker Wookey Jack
Lots of bitterness on top: musk, melons, pine, citrus; undertones of grass and flowers and probably various tropical fruits I cannot ID. Dark bread and burnt toast in supporting roles, with dim flickers of caramel and chocolate. Peppery presence emerges mostly on the back end. Finish is surprisingly quick.
Kinda thick and chewy, but smooth. Decently carbonated. A brief tug of resinous-syrupy stickiness, then a sharp and pretty clean finish. Drying and pretty refreshing; almost cleansing.
Yum! Another very drinkable Black IPA, with a pretty sizable alcohol wallop (8.3% ABV) carried with distinct grace and almost-alarming subtlety. Plenty intense, and complex for days; nicely balanced and integrated. Delicious, and a marvelous way to continue Black IPA Day.
