Tonight's beer: Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer
Gently tart, mostly bright citrus; pale bread backing that up, providing some soft sweetness. Floral-grassy bitterness dances past around the finish, with peppery flickers in the distance. Starts pretty tart; nice and dry by the end.
Very light-bodied, with good if finely-textured carbonation. A trace of lingering pucker, but mostly clean and cleansing. Amazingly refreshing.
A very drinkable wheat beer, thoroughly American—there are no pretenses here toward being a hefeweizen. It doesn't have those yeast flavors, but it has charms of its own (more straighforward, and more subtle). Reasonably intense and complex (it's not going to blow anyone away), nicely balanced and integrated. Thoroughly delicious.
