Tonight's beer: Brasserie D'Achouffe Houblon Chouffe
Lots of bitterness to start—piney and grassy, backed by musk, citrus, pine, and assorted tropical fruits. Funky threads bridge to pale-bready sweetness and grace notes of bright spices and pale fruits. Bitter to start; threads of sweet through the middle; then blisteringly dry.
*Very* light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Quite drying, and massively refreshing. The finish is quick, clean, cleansing just about to the point of scrubbing. Absolutely zero alcohol presence.
Yum! While the brewery says they use Tomahawk and Amarillo hops, the dominant hops character of the beer for me is from the Saaz they also use; that's not really a complaint. Plenty intense and complex, nicely integrated and balanced and graceful. Amazingly drinkable, with no warning of the 9% ABV. I must acquire more of this.
