Tonight's beer: Einbecker Brauherren Pils
Grassy-floral bitterness blasts things open at the start, with threads of sulfur woven tightly in. Pale-bready impressions make for counterpoint but nothing close to balance. Bitter, then very, *very* dry.
On the light side of medium-bodied, highly-carbonated. Very clean, cleansing and scrubbing; immensely drying and massively refreshing.
A delicious and bracing and very drinkable German Pils—slurpable, even. Surprisingly intense, considering the 4.9% ABV—it's hard to argue with the flavor-to-booze ratio; more straightforward than complex. Beautifully integrated if gloriously (and clearly intentionally) unbalanced. Without looking—I'm lazy—I suspect Einbeck is close to Jever: I gather German Pils tends to be regionally similar, and the beers are a lot alike. Yum.
