Tonight's beer: Mother Earth Pin-Up Pale Ale
Piney-citrussy bitterness, lemony-orangey and sparking with flickers of grass and flowers; some bready-caramel-caramel sweetness making for balance, or at least counterpoint. Dries out pretty quickly and thoroughly into a long and bitter finish.
Light-ish body, with decent carbonation. Gently-drying and very refreshing. A bit of resinous stickiness through the end; tends to cleansing, practically scrubbing.
Very nice. The brewers know they're bumping uyp against the borders of the Pale Ale style, threatening to skitter across into IPA territory. That doesn't quite happen, but it is a close thing. Intense and reasonably complex, integrated and poised if not exactly balanced. Very drinkable. An excellent introduction to a brewery that was new to me.
