Ommegang Fleur de Houblon

Tonight's beer: Ommegang Fleur de Houblon

Ommegang Fleur de Houblon

Juicy citrus to start: lemons and grapefruit, a touch of orange. Pine, grass, flowers filling in. Pale bread and light caramel flash past through the middle, trailing pale fruits (apples and pears, mostly) and a touch of bright spice. Bitter, then a touch of sweet, then very dry into and beyond the finish.

Very light-bodied, highly-carbonated. Drying as hell and massively refreshing. Finishes quickly, very cleansing and clean. Practically scrubbing.

Ommegang is a brewery it seems to me can do almost no wrong; this is a delicious and refreshing beer, perfectly suited to summer. The flavor is intense and complex (in an easy to parse way); the beer is nicely balanced and integrated and amazingly drinkable. I'm very glad we picked up a 4-pack of this.
