Tonight's beer :Ommegang Hennepin
Citrus and bright spice (Coriander, I think) backed by pale bread; caramel lingering around the edges. Grassy-floral bitterness strong through the middle, balanced (mostly, anyway) by pale-fruity sweetness (apples, pears, et al.) and some threads of baking spices. Dries out rapidly and thoroughly.
Very light-bodied, and highly-carbonated. Drying as hell and amazingly refreshing. Cleansing and scrubbing, with just a little stickiness on the back end.
Yum! One of my favorite American saisons (yes, owned by a Belgian company and all-a-that; it's complicated), a beer that probably goes great with whatever you're eating—it might always be the best pairing, but it's probably never going to be a poor one. Intense, complex, balanced, integrated; completely delicious.
