Tonight's beer: Ommegang Rare Vos
Pale bread, leavened with bright spice, pale fruits (with some citrus—mainly orange); floral-grassy bitterness arises quickly and lasts through the finish. Traces of caramel lurk in the distance.
Very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Massively drying and extremely refreshing. A little sticky around the finish, bur mostly clean: cleansing just to the point of scrubbing.
Delicious and very drinkable. Intensely and complexly flavorful, beautifully well balanced and integrated. Really and definitely a beer that wants to be served with food—no kind of surprise to anyone that's been to the brewery. Ommegang's beers usually work very well for me; this one surely does. Yum!
