Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Hopsun
Pale bread, light caramel/toast; pepper and grassy-floral bitterness right alongside. Dim hints of pine and citrussy fruit. Lon-ish, gently bitter finish.
Light-bodied and well-carbonated, tending to smooth. Lightly drying and immensely refreshing. A trace of soft stickiness on the finish, but otherwise very clean and cleansing.
One of my favorite American wheat beers, and one of the few I've had that barely nods at German weizens and/or Belgian wits on its way to something unlike either, and almost entirely its own. Beautiful in the glass, and delicious—balanced and integrated; more straightforward than complex, but plenty intense. A marvelous summer beer.
