Tonight's beer: Maine Beer Zoe
Pine and citrus bitterness, threaded with flowers. Backed by bread and deep caramel. Hints of dried/candied fruits around the perimeter. Something strangely like chocolate flickering by around the finish.
Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, kinda soft and chewy, with good carbonation. Mostly smooth, drying and refreshing. A little stickiness through the end, but mainly clean and cleansing.
A delicious and drinkable beer, kinda dark for the style both in color and in flavor (considering that my personal benchmark for the style is Nugget Nectar ...). Intense and complex, marvelously well integrated and balanced. I could easily become a fan of these people: The couple of their beers have both been excellent, and I can really get behind the way they put their money where their mouths are, giving-wise. And their labels are cute, too. I guess I'm already a fan.
