Tonight's beer: 21st Amendment Hop Crisis
Lots of bitterness: lemony-citrus threaded with pine, grass, and flowers. A little pale breadiness—almost crackery—filling in behind, with some dim flickers of caramel and vanilla off in the distance.
Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Lots of bready-syrupy stickiness around the finish, long and drying and scrubbing. Maybe some soft alcohol glow, admirably well-restrained for 9.7% ABV.
A delicious Double IPA, massively drinkable; carries its substantial booze payload with subtlety and grace. Intense and complex flavors, nicely integrated and aptly imbalanced (but clearly poised). Still haven't had a bad beer from 21st Amendment (and not expecting to, at this point). After having seen this around some, I'm glad I finally picked some up.
