Tonight's beer: Boulevard Pale Ale
Grassy-floral bitterness up front, some threads of pine and citrus woven in the background. Some structure and some counterpoint provided by lightly-toasted bready-caramel sweetness. Hints of juice. Mostly dry by the end.
Medium-bodied, or maybe a little lighter, with good carbonation. Mostly clean—just a trace of stickiness around the back end—cleansing; drying and refreshing.
A very drinkable pale ale, perfect for a warm summer evening. Intense and complex to be worth paying attention to, but not insistent or demanding; nicely integrated and balanced. Delicious as an every day beer, and it seems as though it would make for an excellent grilling-in-the-backyard beer.
