Tonight's beer: Brooklyn Brooklyner Wheat Beer
Bananas on top, with pale bread and a touch of caramel. Cloves and a little allspice, with flickers of pepper. Grassy-floral bitterness arises toward the finish, but the beer never comes across as bitter; it just dries out nicely.
Light-bodied, smooth, very well-carbonated. Gently drying and massively refreshing. Just a vague trace of stickiness.
A plenty drinkable hefeweizen, about as good as any other American take on the style (save Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis) but barely in the same ballpark as the really good German versions. Plenty of intense and complex flavor for 5.1% ABV, nicely balanced and integrated. Nice, really, especially in the summer.
