Tonight's beer: Lagunitas Undercover Shutdown
Lots of fruit—some citrus (orange and grapefruit) and some other pale fruits like pears and apples and pineapples. Floral-grassy bitterness wafting past. Pale bread and caramel solidly present byt distinctly in the background. Bitter, then some sweet, then quite dry.
Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some soft stickiness around the finish. Gently drying and working hard at getting to refreshing. Mostly clean, and cleansing. Very little alcohol presence.
Yet another delicious beer from Lagunitas, skittering through the interstices between Barleywine, Double IPA, and Imperial Amber/Red. Plenty of intense and complex flavor, marvelously well-integrated and balanced; amazingly drinkable. Sometimes, style doesn't matter: this is proof.
