Tongiht's beer: Sierra Nevada/Russian River Brux
Hints of pale tart fruit, and very dry. Some soft sweetness emerges into the middle, before bright bitterness (mostly floral and grassy) takes over and remains in control through and after the finish. A trace of vinegar dances around the perimeter the whole time. Mold, hay, sweat in the distance.
Very light-bodied, highly-carbonated. Extraordinarily drying and refreshing, in spite of some juiciness int he background. Just a little flinty and edgy. Not a lot of alcohol presence.
Pretty impressive, though I'm not an expert in American Wild Ales. More or less dominated by the Brett yeast, but plenty complex and intense; nicely integrated and balanced. Drinkable as hell, on a warm summer evening, with plenty to hold one's attention. The Brett might have been embiggened by the extra time in the bottle: I think I remember seeing something about the Brett being subdued when the beer was first released.
