Port City Porter

Tonight's beer: Port City Porter

Port City Porter

Tightly-braided caramel, dark bread, and chocolate, backed by coffee, earth, and grass. Dim hints of burnt fruits and what I have to describe as "porterish tang." Maybe some traces of ash, peat, and/or smoke in the distance.

Thick, soft, and chewy; kinda dense. Decently-carbonated. Filling and satisfying; a little drying after the finish. Pretty sticky.

A delicious porter, kinda big and thoroughly American. Complex and intense, nicely integrated and balanced. Extremely drinkable and pairs well with intense beefy foods, especially stew and chili (and it works great as an ingredient, at least in our chili recipe). As a bonus, it's a local beer for me. Huzzah!
