Terrapin Monk's Revenge

Tonight's beer: Terrapin Monk's Revenge

Terrapin Monk's Revenge

Citrus fruits (mainly grapefruit and orange), threaded with apples, pears, peaches, pineapples, and random touches of melons and tropical fruits; flowers and grass and a little pine woven in. Pretty substantial caramel-bready sweetness makes for a fair approximation of balance. The beer finishes pretty quickly and pleasantly dry.

Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. A little syrupy-bready stickiness but mostly drying and refreshing. Approximately zero detectable alcohol, despite the 9.6% on the label.

A pretty good Belgian-style IPA. Not Le Freak or Raging Bitch, but very drinkable; intense and complex, and surprisingly well balanced and integrated. The substantial alcohol load is carried supply and subtly, with remarkable grace and finesse. I'm definitely not feeling ill-used for buying a 4-pack of this. Plenty of yum, here.
