21st Amendment Hop Crisis

Tonight's beer: 21st Amendment Hop Crisis

21st Amendment Hop Crisis

Lemony citrus, backed by grass, flowers, a flicker of pine. Substantial bready/crackery sweetness arises into the middle, threaded with woody notes (especially vanilla). Remains mostly bitter into and beyond the finish, gently dry.

On the light side of medium-bodied, a bit chewy and sticky, decently carbonated. Softly drying, tending toward refreshing, with practically no alcohol presence.

A delicious and very drinkable Double IPA, with a little extra balance and complexity from some wood-aging; plenty intense, and nicely integrated. Very strong, at 9.7% ABV, but supple and subtle and something like graceful. I still haven't had a bad beer from 21st Amendment, and I'll keep drinking what they brew.
