Tonight's beer: Ballast Point Victory at Sea

Ballast Point Victory at Sea

Densely threaded caramel, coffee, chocolate, vanilla; earthy-peaty-grassy bitterness lurking around the edges. Maybe some smoke and ash lurking. Strong hints of something a lot like bourbon into the finish. Sweet, then roasty-bitter, then dries out slowly and gently.

Roasty-dry; thick and soft and chewy. Some bready-syrupy stickiness into and through the end. Coats some, and lasts a long time. A big schmear of boozy warmth, but pleasant.

A delicious and massively drinkable Imperial Porter, laden with coffee and vanilla (pleasantly and in keeping with those being major adjuncts). Intense and complex, magnificently well balanced and integrated; utterly delicious. Obviously strong, but supple and graceful. Another awesome beer from Ballast Point.
