Tonight's beer: Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin
Caramel, pumpkin, maple syrup, and molasses; braided and woven with baking spices—nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves—and flickers of earthy-grassy bitterness. Traces of rummy spirits around the perimeter. Starts kinda sweet, but dries out plenty by the end.
Kinda thick and soft, a little dense and sticky, decently carbonated. A bit chewy through the middle. Gently drying and very refreshing for 8% ABV, with astonishingly little alcohol presence for all that booze.
Yum! One of my favorite pumpkin beers, like a spiced cookie. Intense and complex, niftily integrated, if kinda dominated by the sweet and spicy. Delicious and highly drinkable. As a bonus, it seems pretty consistent year-to-year. Definitely a beer I buy every year, when it comes around.
