Tonight's beer: Sierra Nevada Tumbler
Richly-toasted, with flickers of smoke, peat, earth, caramel. Some more grassy bitterness in counterpoint. Background threads of spice, maple syrup/brown sugar, dried fruit.
Medium-bodied, or a little thicker, more soft and chewy than sticky or dense. Lightly carbonated. Gradually drying; gently refreshing. Doesn't quite manage cleansing.
A delicious and very drinkable brown ale, marvelously autumnal. Plenty of intense and complex flavor (especially for 5.5% ABV), neatly balanced and nicely integrated. Sierra Nevada make some excellent seasonal beers (and, of course, some awesome beers, period) and this slots in nicely. A beautiful beer, a treat to all the applicable senses; one I'm happy to revisit every fall.
