Tonight's beer: Antonio Borunda's Homebrew Imperial Milk Stout
Lots of dark roasty flavors—dark chocolate, some coffee—backed by burnt toast, caramel, some molasses; some thing almost minty or lemony at the finish. Dry and ashy into the aftertaste.
Medium-bodied, smooth, lots of fine carbonation. A little sticky and coating, briskly drying; something bristly-flinty around the finish. A moderate amount of spiritous heat, entirely appropriate for 9% ABV.
A very drinkable, very rich milk stout. Suitably intense and complex, nicely balanced and integrated. I have no idea what the misty/lemony thing is on the back, but I'm not a homebrewer (or any kind of brewer) and it's kinda beyond my ken. I am impressed as hell; I've probably had commercially brewed beer that wasn't this good.
