Tonight's beer: Boulevard (Smokestack Series) Reverb
Lots of pale bread, with hints of caramel and light toast; almost exactly balanced with floral-grassy bitterness. Background threads of pine, fruit, spice; a distant flicker of something nutty. Wraps up impressively dry.
Kinda thick and bready-chewy, lightly carbonated. Soft and sticky, slowly gently drying. Surprisingly refreshing. A bit lingering, but finishes mostly clean and cleansing.
Considering that Imperial Pilsner is one my favorite styles, and that Boulevard (especially their Smokestack Series) is one of my favorite breweries, is it any surprise at all that I adore this beer? Tons of intense and complex flavor, marvelously well balanced and integrated. Drinkable as hell. Basically an overhopped maibock, but I really couldn't care less. It's delicious.
