Tonight's beer: Cigar City Jai Alai
Juicy-bitter: grapefruit, melons, random tropical fruits; pine and grass and flowers and musk in supporting roles. Some bready sweetness around the middle, with flickers of clear spirits and hints of dried fruits. Finishes quickly dry.
Medium-bodied, decently-carbonated. Brief sparkles of boozy prickle, but not unpleasant or out-of-the-way for 7.5% ABV. Softly drying and nicely refreshing. Maybe a mineral trace on the very finish.
A very nice biggish IPA, from a can. Intense and complex, neatly integrated, and more balanced than many in the style (that last is a feature for me, but others may see it as a bug). Delicious and drinkable to the point of being slurpable. Another beer from another brewery I wish had distribution near me. Maybe we can find it when we're in Georgia in January.
