Tonight's beer: Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin
Dark sweetness—brown sugar, molasses, caramel—wrapped around pumpkins and dark baking spices (allspice, cloves, cinnamon). Toasted bread around the middle. Earthy-grassy bitterness emerges through the finish.
Medium-boded, or a little thicker, softly carbonated. A little pillowy and chewy, a bit syrupy-sticky. Eventually, some gentle drying, but not really refreshing. Tending toward cloying, but not quite making it there.
A pretty nice pumpkin beer, pretty much in the center of typical—not generic, exactly, but pretty close. Well-made, for all that, though; reasonably intense and complex, nicely integrated if heavily tipped to the sweet side of things. Decently drinkable.
