Tonight's beer: Southern Tier 2XRye
Floral-grassy bitterness to start, flickering with pine and citrus, sprinkled with pepper. Toast and caramel provide capable poise and substantial balance, especially through the middle. Dries out quickly and thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Drying and immensely refreshing. Finishes clean and cleansing, with a vague touch of stickiness. Not really any alcohol presence, considering the 8.1% ABV.
Such a pretty beer, and a delicious one. Pleasantly intense; a little straightforward, but some depth and complexity if you pay attention. Drinkable as hell, dangerously subtle and supple and grateful. Another beer of yum from Southern Tier.
