Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Warlock
Rich chocolate, threaded with coffee; pumpkin and almost-buttery caramel densely layered in. Evolves through bittersweet as earth, peat, hints of grass and smoke emerge. Turns a little dark-spicy toward the end as the beer slowly dries out a little.
A bit thicker than medium-bodied, decently carbonated. MOstly roasty-dry, but chewy and syrupy-sticky. A gentle glow, pretty mild for 8.6% ABV. Filling, satisfying; eventually warming.
This is essentially Pumpking plus an imperial stout, and there's any doubt that I'd love it? Dark chocolate, almost buttery-rich caramel, pumpkin; beautifully balanced and integrated, intense and impressively complex. Completely delicious, and surprisingly supple and graceful. Clearly, I'm sporting one hell of a birthmark (Far Side reference) regarding this beer, but I don't think I can complain.
