Tonight's beer: Allagash Fluxus (2013)
Dark bread and toast, backed by chocolate and maybe coffee. Strong impressions of fruit, mainly darkish citrus. Earthy-floral-grassy bitterness around the perimeter. Some caramel around the center, but the beer finishes pretty dry.
Kinda thick and bready-chewy, brightly and explosively carbonated. A little bit juicy, mostly drying and refreshing. Mostly clean and surprisingly cleansing. Quenching.
A delicious beer, less dominated by the blood orange than I was expecting—there's some citrus in the taste, but the beer otherwise seems ... conventional, I guess, if excellent. Tons of intense and complex flavor, especially for 6.4% ABV, and very well-balanced and -integrated. Amazingly drinkable. Another excellent beer from Allagash.
