Tonight's beer: Cigar City Maduro
Lots of milk chocolate and caramel and dark bread, threaded with vague ash and smoke and peat; possibilities of tobacco. A little earthy bitterness struggles to cut through, barely makes its presence known. A brief impression of something like an acidic tang on the finish.
Medium-bodied, maybe a little thicker. Sparsely carbonated with a hint of pucker around the finish. Mostly syrupy-sticky, with a long finish.
I wonder if this sat around too long, or if there was some sort of minor QC error; it feels sloppy and uncontrolled, as though things got away from the brewer, at least a little bit. Cigar City has a good enough reputation that I'm kinda disappointed in this, though I'm grateful for the opportunity to try it.
