Samuel Adams White Christmas

Tonight's beer: Samuel Adams White Christmas

Samuel Adams White Christmas

Lots of bright spices—cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander; bright lemon-orange citrus woven in. Some pale bread in the middle, with vague possibilities of caramel. Never particularly sweet, finishes impressively dry.

Light-bodied, well-carbonated, smooth. Cleansing, surprisingly clean; practically scrubbing. Massively refreshing, not at all chewy or sticky.

Pretty impressive, really, even if it's from the 900-lb. gorilla of the craft-beer world. Definitely an atypical witbier, but the Christmas-seasonal spicing *works*. Intense and complex, nicely integrated and balanced. Amazingly drinkable, and delicious. Not a bad beer at all to find in the Winter Classics mix-12.
