Tonight's beer: Stone/10 Barrel/Bluejacket Suede
Caramel and dark fruit, blended with toast, chocolate, coffee. Some honey and flowers around the edges. Earthy-grassy bitterness present mostly in the background and the finish. Smoke and maybe ash in the distance, and a possible hint of vanilla. Intensely floral/perfumey on the aftertaste.
Thick, dense, soft, smooth—very smooth. Decently carbonated. Softly roasty-drying, filling and satisfying. Maybe some gentle boozy glow, but extremely subtle and subdued for 9.6% ABV.
A delicious and interesting imperial porter, with a mouthfeel that almost perfectly fits the name. That soft and smooth mouthfeel is the big take away here, along with the strongly floral presence on the finish and aftertaste. Plenty intense and complex, nicely integrated and surprisingly well-balanced. Drinkable as heck, supple and subtle and graceful.
