Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Krampus
Closely and complexly woven toasty-caramel sweetness and grassy-floral bitterness; some flickers of citrus and pale bread in the back ground. Some odd impressions of earthy roasts. Nutty hints, and maybe a little toffee. Intensely bittersweet from start to finish.
Kinda thick and bready-chewy, moderately lightly carbonated. A bit of syrupy stickiness, especially into the finish. Basically not a hint of alcohol hint. Mostly smooth.
A delicious, stupidly drinkable Imperial Pilsner. Tons of intense and complex flavor, nicely integrated and surprisingly well-balanced. Carries the 9.3% ABV with astonishing subtlety and grace. I've been a big fan of Southern Tier for a long, long time; beers like this are why.
