Wild Wolf Alpha Ale

Tonight's beer: Wild Wolf Alpha Ale

Wild Wolf Alpha Ale

Lots of bitterness to start—citrus (mainly grapefruit, some lemon and orange) and pine, backed by grass and flowers, with dim musky-catty treads in the distance. Some dried fruit, some bread and toast and caramel. Bitter, then a flicker of sweet, then bitter again and very dry.

Pretty light-bodied, decently carbonated. A little resinous stickiness around the finish, but otherwise clean; scrubbing and cleansing and refreshing.

A pretty impressive beer that's approaching sessionable, if that's your thing (leaving aside entirely what a session beer *is* because seriously who has time for that argument?); at 5.1% ABV, this sports one hell of a flavor-to-booze ratio. Amazingly intense and complex, for what it is, and definitely well-integrated. Tilted heavily to the hoppy-bitter side, but very drinkable. It calls food to mind as I drink. I believe I shall need to acquire more.
