Tonight's beer: Hoppin' Frog D.O.R.I.S. the Destroyer
Lots of chocolate, some coffee. Tons of caramel and toast, some burnt fruit. Flickers of smoke and peat and ash; earth and grass around the periphery. Vanilla lurks in the distance. Richly, explosively bittersweet from start to finish.
Thick, viscous, surupy, dense, finely carbonated. Massively chewy and sticky. Coating, eventually gradually drying; heavy and filling. Roughly no warning of the 10.5% ABV.
Wow! This is a massive, massive beer, explosively intense and staggeringly complex. Not sloppy or messy at all, well-integrated, impressively poised (but balanced may not apply, here). Scarily drinkable, subtle and a bit supple, surprisingly graceful for a beer this big. I don't p[ck up Hoppin' Frog's beers often enough (I don't think they have distro in MD, which would make it a little more challenging); they've always impressed me. This is a truly delicious beer.
