Sweetwater (Dank Tank) Red Hot Mama

Tonight's beer: Sweetwater (Dank Tank) Red Hot Mama

Sweetwater (Dank Tank) Red Hot Mama

Floral-piney-grassy bitterness, flecked with citrus and maybe musk. Other pale fruits meld their sweetness with toast and caramel in the background. Starts out searingly bitter, then some sweetness raises its head briefly before the beer dries out, quickly and thoroughly.

Medium-bodied, well-carbonated. There's a lot or resinous stickiness here to qualify as clean (and some bready chewiness, too) but the beer still manages to be cleansing, scrubbing; briskly refreshing, without a hint of booze.

Very, *very* nice.  Probably a little darker than my ideal Imperial Red, but that's a quibble—and Centennial hops are a personal weakness of mine. Blisteringly intense, impressively intense; marvelously well-integrated and -balanced. Delicious from start to finish. I hear (or see) rumblings that Sweetwater might be coming to Maryland soon; I eagerly await that frabjous day (callou, callay).
