Tonight's beer: Duvel Moortgat Maredsous Blond
Lots of pale bread, drizzled with a little caramel; pale dried/candied fruits (pears, apples, apricots) threaded densely in. Baking spice and grassy-floral bitterness sprinkled around the edges. Dries out quickly and completely.
Light-bodied and highly-carbonated. A little soft stickiness, but mainly clean, cleansing, refreshing. Nicely drying.
An amazingly drinkable Belgian Pale Ale, a beer that practically begs to be served with food. Balanced and nicely integrated, surprisingly intense and complex for 6% ABV. Delicious from start to finish. Clearly, this is exactly what the brewers intended. Very, very nice.
