Tonight's beer:
A dense and complex weave of caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and bright-tart candied fruit; distinctly vinegar-ish, but not overpoweringly so—lots of stuff peeks through the interstices. Earthy-grassy bitterness emerges around the middle, lingers into a surprisingly dry finish.
Kinda light-bodied and highly-carbonated, with some flinty hardness around the center. Powerfully drying, briskly refreshing. The 8.5% ABV this beer is packing is practically impossible to detect.
A delicious beer, not as sour as I was expecting—or at least not as one-dimensionally so. There's a lot of complex, intense flavor here, all nicely balanced and integrated. Even though this beer's been sitting around here for a while, I'm inclined to say it's pretty much what the brewers intended. Astonishingly drinkable.
