Tonight's beer: Haandbryggeriet Odin's Tipple

Haandbryggeriet Odin's Tipple

Lots of very dark chocolate, thickly spiked with black coffee/espresso. Dark bread, grace notes of caramel and dark dried/candied fruits. Smoke, ash, peat, tobacco, burnt fruits embroidering the edges. Grass and earth lingering. Roasty, evolves through richly bittersweet, wraps up gradually dry.

Massive, thick, dense, pillowy-soft and chewy. Bready stickiness lurks for a while. Massively coating, eventually drying. Barely a trace of the 11% ABV—a little prickle and a gently warming glow in the belly.

A very powerful beer, if supple and graceful as well; utterly delicious. Intense and complex as hell, nicely integrated and something like balanced. More of a sipping beer, but drinkable for all-a-that.A beer one can easily get lost in, that demands and rewards close and careful attention. It'd been a while since I'd had a beer from these folks; this is a very good one, beyond my high expectations of the brewery.
