Left Hand Polestar

Tonight's beer: Left Hand Polestar

Left Hand Polestar

Pale bready sweetness poised against grassy-floral bitterness. Starts a bit sweet, finishes sharply flinty-dry; lots of bitterness throughout. Hints of pine and earth and maybe citrus in the distance; maybe a trace of nuts or toffee.

Light-bodied and highly carbonated. Astonishingly drying and refreshing; cleansing and scrubbing. Very clean.

A delicious version of a German Pils—reminds me a fair bit of Jever's Pils, a beer I adore. Simple and direct, but plenty intense (and with hidden depths, if one pays attention); wonderfully well-balanced and integrated. Marvelously drinkable. I was happy to see Left Hand finally get distro around here; this is an impressively to-style beer from an American brewer.
