Tonight's beer: Port Brewing Hop-15

Lots of bitterness—no surprise, there—pine and flowers and mostly-grapefruit citrus; some spice and earth scattered in the background. Bread and light caramel a quiet counterpoint: present but subdued. Massively bitter, then steeply dry.

A little lighter than medium-bodied, decently carbonated, with some brief but sharp boozy prickle but not really a lot of heat: nothing unpleasant for 10% ABV, but more notably alcoholic than some other similarly strong beers in the style. Lots of resinous stickiness, drying and scouring.

A delicious example of a Double IPA, nicely drinkable. Blisteringly intense, and quite complex; very well-integrated, but nothing like balanced, really. I'd heard good things about this beer, and it lived up to them, even though it's a few years old (I suspect a fresh bottle might recalibrate my palate somewhat). Impressively laden with yum.
