Tonight's beer: Back Forty Truck Stop Honey
Bread, toast, caramel; a distinct honey vibe happening. Some earthy-grassy bitterness lurks in the background. Evolves gradually toward an almost dry finish. Dim flickers of fruit along the way.
Medium-bodied, pretty well carbonated. A bit chewy, but not particularly sticky. Wraps up distinctly refreshing, mildly dry, gently cleansing.
Certainly a very drinkable beer, and very tasty, but I don't think it's a brown ale (what it says on the label) of any style I've had. Besides the golden color, there's barely toast in the flavor—roast simply ain't happening. Intense and complex for a 6% beer, nicely balanced and integrated. I'd certainly be willing to try more beers from these folks, but I'd take any style descriptions with at least a grain of salt.
