Tonight's beer: Jailhouse Conjugal Visit
Lots of citrus—grapefruit, orange some lime—woven densely with flowers and pine. Not strictly bitter without relief: there's plenty of caramel-toasty sweetness, with some fruity/juicy overtones. Dries out smoothly but completely into a longish finish.
Medium-bodied, more or less, with decent carbonation. Bready-chewy and a little sticky. Drying and immensely refreshing, kinda cleansing and scrubbing.
Delicious. I'm partial to amber/red ales, especially bigger ones; they seem better-balanced to me, with the hops not in such stark relief. This beer is an example of why: intense as hell and very complex, wonderfully balanced and integrated; astonishingly drinkable. Another excellent beer from a brewer that continues to impress; a brewer worth looking for an every trip to Georgia.
