Tonight's beer: Lancaster Hop Buggy
A flicker of bitterness to start: grassy and floral, mainly, with some pine and some citrus a bit in the background. Bready-toasty sweetness emerges around the middle, with hints of dried/candied fruits and a healthy dollop of caramel. A moment of bitter, then some round sweetness, then dries out nicely.
Bready-chewy, maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied. Decently carbonated. A little stickiness, especially into and past the finish. Gradually drying, very refreshing.
A very nice amber/red ale, quite drinkable. Lots of flavor, here: This is a remarkably complex and intense beer for 5.8% ABV. Impressively well-integrated and superbly balanced. Probably nothing to get obsessed over, but I like it a lot. Still reminds me of their old Four-Grain Ale.
