Tonight's beer: Red Hare Watership Brown
Caramel, toast, dark-ish bread; hints of chocolate and/or coffee. Earthy-grassy bitterness picks up in the middle and carries through to the finish, with flickers of pine and maybe citrus around the edges. Dim hints of dark dried fruits and of dark baking spice.
Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some syrupy-bready stickiness and chewiness around the finish. Gently drying, and a bit refreshing.
A nicely drinkable brown ale, maybe pale enough to impinge on amber/red ale territory. Nicely intense and complex, integrated and balanced. Nothing crazy, just a good dark-ish beer.
