Tonight's beer: Sierra Nevada Bigfoot (2012)
Lots of bready-toasty-caramel sweetness, some dried/candied fruits, nuts/toffee. Hints of molasses, maple syrup, maybe honey. Grassy-floral bitterness through the middle, with citrussy-piny flecks scattered about. Maybe a smattering of baking spice in the distance. Starts mostly sweet, dries out gradually on the shoulders of evolving bitterness.
Thick, bready-chewy, some resinous-syrupy stickiness, decently carbonated. Not a lot of alcohol presence, considering the 9.6% ABV. Smooth and filling, softly drying, almost refreshing.
Tons of flavor, here, intense and complex, well-integrated and nicely balanced. Mellowed substantially by two years in the bottle; supple and subtle and surprisingly graceful. Delicious from start to finish, and impressively drinkable. This beer ages pretty well, for at least two years; I'm not sure it has more than another year or maybe two, though.
