Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Hop Sun
Grassy-floral bitterness to start, with maybe dim hints of pine and citrus. Peppery and tart wheat character around the middle, some pale bread and a little caramel struggling to emerge. Dry and bitter throughout.
Drying, cleansing, powerfully refreshing. Massively drinkable. Light-bodied, with lively carbonation.
One of my favorite American wheat beers. Surprisingly intense for a 5.1% ABV beer, but almost Pilsner-esque in its straightforward character. Finely balanced and nicely integrated. A beautiful spring/summer beer, perfect for warmer—or even hot—weather. Delicious.
